that was really cool.

Ufuk 01 Mar 07

Awesome!

Frank Denbow 01 Mar 07

Hilarious. How does this film site compare to others?

Ben Darlow 01 Mar 07

The original (higher quality, Quicktime movie) can be found here.

Daniel Jalkut 01 Mar 07

Awesome – but it isn’t Sam Jackson – it’s Ving Rhames.

Daniel Jalkut 01 Mar 07

Oops – I misunderstood the context. They’re talking ABOUT Ving Rhames :)

ML 01 Mar 07

Freakin’ brilliant.

Sean 01 Mar 07

someone should do a music video like this

Chris Heilmann 01 Mar 07

Reminds a bit of Sign’O’the Times by prince, doesn’t it?

Blake 01 Mar 07

It’s repulsive how vulgar it is, but at the same time, the animations are inspiring.

DjD 01 Mar 07

Really cool!

I didn’t catch This IS a tasty burger! in there though. sign

NetManiac 01 Mar 07

This is masterpiece. But personally, I like this version much more.

Both links I have found on Presentation Zen blog.

Rob Goodlatte 01 Mar 07

That was the most badass thing i’ve seen in a very long time.

Mrad 01 Mar 07

ifilm’s streaming sucks. That’s REALLY cool though.

Hojo 01 Mar 07

I see nothing. =(

Josh Paradroid 01 Mar 07

What that you say? A music video, you say? Hmm…

(they’re already using that print,-rotate-and-scale-typography theme all over adverts here in the UK)

Alex Aguilar 01 Mar 07

gotta love the blood splatter effects

Scott Meade 01 Mar 07

motionographer.com is now my new favorite site for daily inspiration.

Warren Henning 01 Mar 07

well that was clearly all kinds of awesome.

for those having trouble with the streaming (there were some comments above saying that), there’s also a youtube version of this video.

Ed 01 Mar 07

Cool. Reminds me of MKII ’s Brazil Inspired: Machismo (look for it in http://media2.mk12.com/v6/mk12_v6_index.html).

Dan 01 Mar 07

Here’s a nice example of typography in a music video: Mylène Farmer & Moby – Slipping Away (Crier La Vie)

Nathan R. Garza 01 Mar 07

I agree with blake. Very vulgar (that’s why I never watched the movie), but The animation was really cool. Really gave meaning to the words, which is kind of weird. I wonder if/how this could be used in a couple of projects I’m working on…

Gary R Boodhoo 01 Mar 07

brilliant and deep. Vulgar though? To each his ownfor sure, but surely less vulgar than flip-flops, the evening news, US tax law, Hummers, etc… Who will protect the children?

Torley 02 Mar 07

Alas, if you don’t understand written/spoken English, then you won’t think it’s vulgar, and the characters may even appear to be a type of pseudo-abstract art. :)

This sorta reminds me of a certain Designer’s Republic video which you’ll likely like if you found the above enjoyable:

Here’s another great vid by Hexstatic, with trippy visuals synced to the lyrics:

Dan, nice link to the Moby vid! I haven’t seen that one before; he’s a great duo with Mylene Farmer, lots of emotion in that! The way the flat photos are flown-through reminds me of Royksopp’s Eple:

:)

Gunther Hymenlick 02 Mar 07

This is how proper typography is done, bitches. Well…. it could have used a couple of ”?” marks here and there….. Maybe after each question, or something. Just an idea. AAARRggggghhh!!!

Gunther Hymenlick's Brother 02 Mar 07

Very cool… any idea what software was used to create this? After Effects?

bzx 02 Mar 07

this is fantastic!!! really awesome typography work!!!

(the other video from Presentation Zen is so lame.. doesn’t even compare)

bzx 02 Mar 07

David 08 Mar 07

Anyone have any idea what font he used, or what application he used to make it?

Just wondering how difficult it would be to do something along those lines.

ray 08 Mar 07

what is the point of this? looks stupid and someone had too much spare time on their hands.

Ned 08 Mar 07

“Anyone have any idea what font he used, or what application he used to make it?” Yeah I’d really like to know that as well.

jgpetruna 08 Mar 07

Ving Rhames? Are you kinding?

It’s not Ving Rhames or Sam Jackson. It’s Samuel L. Jackson to you, motherfucker.

Michael Ott 08 Mar 07

Nice work. I smell a new wave of more typography videos coming on.

Kudos for that.

Ana H. 08 Mar 07

Amy 08 Mar 07

That was awesome!

connie 08 Mar 07

Very, very, very cool.

Diane 08 Mar 07

Nice. Reminds me of an assignment from my first year Visual Studies class @ Ryerson University. Same deal – take a conversation and animate using text and graphic elements (i.e. lines and other shapes), but nothing recognizable like symbols or other “known” objects. No computers to be used for the assignment – all hand-drawn and shot frame by frame. And get this – no editing involved, so all shots and assets had to be planned in advance to have it turn out and sync properly. Challenging but a good exercise in thinking about motion, meaning and the medium.

For those looking for more info, the first place I saw this posted was here:
