This promo video for SoundCloud shows how much style you can inject into a screencast. You can tell they are speaking directly to a certain audience through their attitude, visuals and music. I particularly like how they intentionally show some purple desktop background around the browser window. Screencasts often look the same when you don’t see anything beyond the edges of the browser window. Well done guys!

Dang, I thought my screencasts were good. Well, at least the RIAA wont be bothering me :)

It’s definitely a great screencast, but I’m more interested in the product. I would write more, but I have to go check it out.

I agree. A very, very well-produced screencast indeed! The pacing was a bit off sometimes, and I mistook the first applications shown for SoundCloud’s, before the narration kicked in again. But that’s picking nits.

I do think, that it probably works even better in its original context. As Zeisler pointed out above, there’s a lack of basic information about the product itself. I don’t know if it’s a(nother) social network, a service, a “real” web application, etc.

But everyone’s a critic, and I’m no better. It’s still a very impressive screencast!

Really well done. I like the music. The guys are from Berlin. Cool. Prooves that germans can do some cool Webstuff.

Berlin is a great city: cheap, central, hip. it’s no surprise that it has a thriving startup scene producing cool tools like this. I love the upload experience. While your file uploads, you can add the description, share it, etc.

Oh, Soundcloud is built on Ruby on Rails.

Thanks for sharing this. I want to check out this company more and I definitely want to up the anty on my future screencast qualities. Seriously, very well done.

The background music gets really effing annoying after a while…especially the drag after the “there are no limits to file size” part. Still, the narrator sounds hot. Is that an Aussie accent? She could whisper sweet nothings in my ear all day long.

As a German I like that comment. But even though they are based in Berlin, I believe the team is Swedish. Congrats to Soundcloud for building such a cool product.

That is an awesome screencast showing a bit about their product.

The background music couldn’t be better suited, in my humble opinion.
